ExpressionEngine Variables

EE Podcast

A new episode of the EE Podcast is available for your listening pleasure!

In episode 57, Lea and I tackle one of the most fundamental parts of ExpressionEngine: variables.

Episode #57

For All About Variables, Lea and talk about core EE functionality with variables, including the basics like segment URL variables, snippets and global variables. We share our own experiences using, in particular, snippets and global variables as alternatives to embedded templates to help with speed optimization.

And then Lea blew my mind with a ton of fantastic resources she'd gathered: everything from add-ons to a parsing order chart. It was a chock–full–o–resources episode that left me wishing we'd done it a few weeks ago so I could've implemented some of the tools for my latest project.

This episode is now my latest contender for favorite. I still love our EE gypsies episode, but I learned so much from this latest podcast. It isn't often that I have projects that need or even allow me to go outside of EE's native functionality, so it was fantastic to hear about all of the plugins available that not only take advantage of variables, but offer good control panel experiences for users.

Have a listen yourself.

Stay Tuned!

For our next episode, Ryan Masuga is joining us again! This time around, he's going to talk about upgrading to EE2 based on his experiences upgrading Devot:ee. Be sure to tune in!

And don't forget to to check out our schedule to see the great topics we have lined up.
