Get Control of Microformats @ In Control

Dec 27, 2010

In Control Conference

This upcoming February, I'm heading to Orlando, Florida.

No. Not for a vacation (although I do expect to have a fantastic time). I'll be speaking about microformats at the In Control Conference, alongside some of my favorite web designers and developers in the industry.

Not Your Typical Conference

The In Control Conference, which runs February 21 22, 2011, is a much smaller and more intimate conference than you'll typically find on the circuit (do we even have a circuit?).

The sessions are actually workshops, with about two hours devoted to each topic and speaker. And each workshop builds on the next, so you not only get the great details, but also the big picture.

Also, attendance is limited to a perfectly-sized "get to know everyone" group. Speaking from experience, this not only makes it easier to get questions answered, but also to make great connections.

Get Your Microformats Fix

I'm extremely excited about my presentation, because it will be great to talk about microformats again (it's been awhile). And it is even better that I'll have more time to go deep into the topic. Here's a taste of what you can expect from me:

  • Microformats basics and benefits
  • Live demonstrations of tools and services that leverage microformats
  • Three easy steps to publish hCard and hCalendar
  • What HTML5's microdata means for microformats
  • Embracing more semantics: POSH and WAI-ARIA

The Coolest Person I Know

Emily Lewis

Yeah, that would be me: .

I'm a freelance web designer of the standardista variety, which means I get excited about things like valid POSH, microformats and accessibility. I ply my trade from my one-person design studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico 87106 USA.

A Blog Not Limited is my personal blog where I pontificate about web design, web standards, semantics and whatever else strikes my fancy. Head on over to Emily Lewis Design if you'd like to see my work or, even better, hire me.
