A Blog Not Limited

to web design, standards & semantics

And So It Begins

This is my first blog post on my first blog (isn't that special?).

I set up an account with ExpressionEngine in March 2008, and I am finally getting off my lazy ass to make this thing a reality.

The reasons for the delay are many, foremost of which is the fact that I haven't yet come up with a visual design. I know what I want, but I'm not to sure how to get there.

But after some prodding from my good friends Ian and Jen, I decided that the visual part shouldn't hold me back. Plus, what I'm best at is semantic XHTML and kick-ass CSS … might as well start there.

So, as of this posting, my blog is still using the default ExpressionEngine templates and CSS. I haven't made any decisions about categories or functionality. And I still need to get the basic ExpressionEngine foundation configured for my purposes.

Hell, I haven't even decided what sorts of topics I will blog about. Of course web design and standards will be mainstays, but I'm toying with the idea of a fair amount of "personal" topics, including my ridiculously funny foray into online dating.

However, I have decided on a blog name and "tagline," which I'm rather pleased with at this point (gotta start somewhere).

Still, there is much to do. But I'm eager to see how things go.

Your Two Cents:

I will delete off-topic, inflammatory or anonymous comments. And, as much as I like compliments, if your comment is something along the lines of "great post, I'll pass it along," I'm gonna assume it is spam (especially if you don't provide a "real" name) and will delete it. So, add something useful to the conversation or don't comment at all.

If you don't like the picture I chose for your comment, quit whining and get a Gravatar account.
